We are the Champs! We are…. We are.. We are !!!

What a game, what a season, what a team! I said many times, “The Nadoes are Rampant and bringing home the Cup!? and that’s exactly what we did! U cha cha!
An organised team is a winning team!!

Well Done to All involved, from the sponsors to the players! We pulled it off! The Nadoes showed that they are by far the best team in the League, with the best standing record of three Cup Victories in six years, this act is going to be hard to follow…. What a fitting end to such an unbelievable season, who would have thought after the Nadoes were conceived on an ordinary night at 36 Keurboom Rd Newlands, Jed Elley and a few mates had created something that would live on forever..

Six years down the line with three Cup victories and three semis final loses, the Nadoes have become, A Franchise, A Family, A Quality Rugby Side that is loved and respected throughout the world!

We started this year with one simple goal and that was to Win! That we did with relative ease but what came with it was something that is quite special and will never be forgotten, the spirit and the vibe the Nadoes camp created throughout the season was incredible. The Nadoes were the team to beat,
“did you hear the Nadoes have a website??
“the Nadoes are playing tonight we better go watch?
“the Nadoes are top of the log? “the Nadoes have totally pushed it, they’ve got jackets, golf shirts and truckers hats?
These are some of the conversations heard in and around the Cape over the last few months. This wasn’t something that has been created overnight, a lot of people have put many many hours of hard work and effort into making this team the success is has become. I want to take this opportunity to thank a few people,

Firstly thanks must go to Mitchell’s who sponsored our jerseys for the year, and thanks for the booze, we paid for. Thanks also to University Documents Management Services (UDMS) for sponsoring the jackets. Thanks to Matt Ibbotson for designing the Logo, Rich Abernethy for all the embroidery on the golf shirts and jerseys, Stephen Hole for the water bottles, Patrick Magnus for buying the booze for the last few games, Justin Nurse for the Trucker hats seen all over Llundudno beach, Paki Stanford, the inspiration behind the jackets, Gareth Wright for always being there with words of encouragement and good half time chats, To all the supporters who came down rain or shine to watch the Nadoes Triumph, thanks to the families and friends especially girlfriends who let all the Nadoes run free every Wednesday night.

Special thanks must go to the Dwakn team (Nick Kotze, Gareth Lennox and Anthony Fellowes) for the website and sponsoring the jackets. Thanks to Jock McConnachie for all his financial support, and last but certainly not least Jason Elley, Jed Elley and Stuart McConnachie for doing all the work behind the scenes, things don’t just happen, there is always some poor bugger behind the scenes doing the grunt work and well, their time and effort was certainly not spent in vain and didn’t go unnoticed. Thanks to all of you past and present for you help in creating this Nadoes Family.

This is what it means to be apart of something great, when everybody selflessly gives of their time and effort in order to achieve one goal, we’ve far exceeded our expectations for year and it’s still not over!

At the moment we are looking into having a Nadoes Formal, a Celebratory Braai and a Nadoes Golf Day… The season might be over but the fun for 2004 has only just begun. If you have any hints or queries about these forth coming events or simply want to get involved in the organising side, don’t be shy to call Jason or Myself.. All the details of these events can be found in time on the website. Until then..

It’s been a Privilege and an honour!!!!
