Founded in 1997, Nadoes rugby has been a dominant presance in the internal league at UCT on many a wednesday evening. This site is a tribute to many a nadoe gone by (and current nadoes) who have made the team the success that it is today.
How it all began
There are many ideas and theories about how the Tornadoes came about, here I with the help of a very misty memory will break it down for you and your grandchildren one day.
Way back in the late summer of ’99 some of the older blokes were wearily heading for another winter with very little to do. Studies are important but the beach takes up a lot of the summers day and with cold fronts on the horizon the lads headed for the shed at no. 36 for a good old fashioned Indian pow wow! Sitting waiting for another hit in the shed, we stumbled very hazily on a great idea – “Lets make our own team?. Brother Jed was last seen running around no. 36 screaming TORNADOES TORNADOES, another baboon from the mist Alfie pottles Tinker got it all wrong and shouted U CHA CHA U CHA CHA and thus a baby was born!
For the record Grant “Whitey go to war? Whitfield came up with the Tornadoes name and many a cap thereafter. The Jerseys and colours were an over stock mistake and helluva cheap. Mat “Phil the skut man skutter? came up with the Logo which like most things Mat does have been brewing for years now. Yes Simon did chip and round Rudy Kyle to win the first years tournament and Stix was unanimously the leading try scorer. The biggest hit to date was made by Jason Gerber! And the floating man of the match award has resurfaced this year thanks to Andrew Corlett one of the first loose forwards of the Nadoes!
Content Providers
Eel and Donkey are going to try their best to keep the content of the site up to date, so e-mail them if you wish to see new features or if you feel something needs to be said that hasn’t been said already.
Picture Gallery
Going to built very shortly after the site goes live, the idea is to make it so everybody can add their pictures that have been taken at the games. Nadoes abroad, a gallery for you guys will also be added so that we can see what the hell is up with you kooks who are missing out on the games!

Ok, to put some sort of control to the content that gets uploaded, if anyone wants a picture or video clip uploaded you can send it to admin and whoever that goes to will put it up if its part of the vibe. Anything goes…
Discussion Forum
The last feature to be added. Once everything is running smoothly we plan to have a section so that everybody can chat and add comments. Yeah, all this shouldnt take to long because its been created already and the joys of PHP allows as to just add on cool modules.
Site Funding
Jeez, we are going to try our best to keep the site live and operational for as long as possible. At the moment the players are funding it all, which is obvioulsy not ideal. If you know of anyone who would like to add some sponsors to the main page, for a minimal fee, that would be shweet. It will only cost less than a grand a year to keep it live for an entire year, including the domain (nadoes.com) renewal. So lets hope some funding comes through some day, contact Jason if you have some ideas.
