Sensational Semi’s MATCH REPORT!!!

vs Vamoos

When the boat rocked last Wednesday against a fired up Squirrels, some teams would have panicked others would have given up but oh no not the Nadoes. Before Wednesday’s semi against the Vamoos there was an air about the boys, something that stirs when the moment arises. After letting themselves down this team were determined to make up for it, and with an outstanding defensive effort they controlled a classic encounter which saw the lads advance to the finals for the first time in three years.

It may be easy to look back on this game and say it was always in the bag but going through it in my head and after having watched it on video (thanks cool calm) one is reminded of how a rugby match flows back and forth. Each team having chances to score and it’s here that I think the game is one and lost, by taking our chance to score when the opportunity arose we seized the game. On the other hand the Vamoos had a few clear chance’s as well, The Meerkat Elley getting the Big Lick for stopping one of these, but had they scored the game would have been very different. So you ask what is my point, well I think territory is hugely important, but possession is the name of the game, look after the pill and you will be rewarded. But ultimately in tight games like semi’s and casting my thoughts ahead to the final it’s about which team wants it more. Who is willing to run that extra yard for his team, make that tackle by putting his body on the line, and keep a cool head when the shit is hitting the fan. Lads this is where we are different, cause nobody and I mean nobody, knows what it’s like to be a Nadoe.

Back to the semi, Playing into a stiff breeze is always tough but an experienced Nadoes unit went about it with the usual calm. There were moments where our defence broke and it looked certain that they would score but the boys made some amazing tackles, none more so than The Meerkat, how he managed to pull off his first successful tackle of the season and dislodge the ball one will never know. But he did and from scrum ball in our 22, Kingzo and his tight5 managed yet another crucial tight head, Andrew Martin playing another barnstormer with stitches in his head, took a short ball that made everyone stand still for that split second. He cracked on the pace and burnt a few before off loading to supporting runners. Jedi and the Donk both held and made insane passes before the ball went to ground inside the Vammos 22. Quick ball was needed and duly came with a backline looking more like a game of touch, but with the Nadoes, forwards play with backs and the ball went wide with express on it. Grant baa-liki-baa-baa Paxton showed his class by drawing two and sending the Mole Man Hobbers into space with one to beat Hobbers did his now trade mark in-out ( being copied by B.Paulse ) and thankfully this time made it over the line. This is definitely one of the tries of the season, if not the try. The ball touched most of the players and hands and those that didn’t get a touch made sure quick ball came. Beautiful.

The Jedi, being the chosen one slotted his kicks with the usual air of certainty. The half time score 7-3 to the Nadoes, Jedi slotted another kick in the second half to make it a try conversion game. We did lose a player to the yellow card, Simon please hit the rucks harder Schmidt for explaining to the ref that they are pussy’s who can’t scrum. Look forward to more of it in the final. But the boys held on and immediate focus went towards Wednesday’s final. Well maybe not right away there is always the small matter of the ” change room ” and a sea of RED at Billy’s.

Look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday…cause Wednesday’s a Nadoes day
