Look at the Scoreboard!!
Before the game on Tuesday night I had a word with the manager of the Vamoos side and requested that they choose alternative jerseys for Wednesday encounter. Being this our 6th year in Internal league with 2 cup victories and 3 semi final places, I expected that the due respect be given to the veterans of the UCT Internal League with their wish being granted. This request was received with much animosity, to which I did not take a liking, and simply explained to the Vamoos manager that Wednesday’s game was like the Std 6’s playing the Matrics! A compromise was made and the jersey story was to be decided at the toss. Whoever won the toss could keep their jerseys and the opposition would wear UCT jerseys for the match, I then added to this by saying confidently that the winner of Wednesday s encounter would retain their jerseys in future matches.
When I arrived at the ground and approached the Vamoos Manager, they showed their true colours and said that it wasn’t going to be a problem, that the jerseys didn’t clash and that they weren’t willing to toss. Well the colours did clash but this problem will be rectified as they will be wearing UCT jerseys when we next meet, as per the agreement reached!!!! Thanks Buggers!!!!
So the game went on and I have to thank the Vamoos side again for not letting us down and playing true Durban Bugger rugger with professional foul after foul taking place. If you can’t beat em spoil the ball…… Good One!
I seem to remember something like look at the score board as they tried to do another weird and wonderful trick by using a different ball for a quick twenty two.. Well boys im looking and the scoreboard and it reads NADOES (MATRICS) 12-7 VAMOOS (LIGHTY STD 6’s).
Again I have the pleasure of thanking the team for a job well done. With a few last minute changes to the line-up through injury we showed our depth and composure at game time! Always cool calm and collected the management made use of the extensive highly talented squad.
So far it’s three out of three and the Nadoes are looking strong favourites to take the Cup in 2004. The word rampant always seems to come to mind when I think of the way we mentally and physically intimidate our opposition. Although it was a very scrappy game, not much to look at, apologies to the supporters who have over the years come to expect the flamboyant Nadoes to express themselves by running in tries of the highest quality. Well you got to see two very well worked tries on wed but again we did what we could when allowed to play ball that hadn’t been infringed upon.
There is a long break now with exams and holidays on the way but remember there is still practice on Mondays at Five and touch on Sundays at Four. I trust that you won’t get complacent and start to let your fitness levels drop. Everyone is expected to be at touch on one of the days specified unless he has spoken to management. There is much talk of a tour to Plett… please let us know what your vibe is regarding this. We are also looking into holding a Nadoes Internal League party at the UCT Tennis Club. So just a few things for you to think about! If you want Golf shirts call me on 0732657991, this applies to everyone supporters, players, groupies whatever….
Remember boys we’ve only just begun, there is still a long road ahead of us with other sides standing up and showing that they won’t be easy to tumble, i.e. Ubumbo good win on Wednesday.
Take it easy, enjoy the break and remember…..
